Wellington’s Ellen picked up Best Alternative Artist at the 2022 Taite awards for her debut It’s Your Birthday but on this followup influences from Velvet Underground and lo-fi pop are better assimilated into songs about depression (Broadway/Junction) which never feel like soul-sucking confessionals. Edgy beauty, pop melodies (Homewrecker) and electronica-influenced indie rock ending with the vaguely optimistic Stick Around 2 See.
