Boygenius: The Record (2023)
This supergirl group – Lucy Dacus, Phoebe Bridgers, Julien Baker – bring close harmony classiness, folk-rock and indie grit (Breeders, Throwing Muses etc) into an appealing concoction of songs with tart messages (Emily I’m Sorry, Letter to an Old Poet), just enough familiarity to be inviting and even when they suggest calm waters there are empowering feminist undercurrents at work.
