The Veils: Asphodels (2025)
If 2023’s Out of the Void Came Love was Finn Andrews’ very big step forward and up, this deeply layered album which deals with the alluring perfume of death, the afterlife and spirituality – again with string arrangements by Victoria Kelly – was where he was headed. Thoughtful, more hopeful than this description sounds and never maudlin, it is the work of an accomplished artist who has outgrown his influences (Cave, Cohen) and looked into the abyss for inspiration, and found it.
