Supertramp: Crisis? What Crisis? (1975)
In the years before punk, progressive rock was everywhere (Genesis, Yes etc) but Britain’s Supertramp walked a smart line between expansive prog and economic pop. Their breakout album Breakfast in America was still four years in the future but they laid the groundwork on albums like Crisis? What Crisis? written under pressure after the success of their previous Crime of the Century. Not well-received at the time but pop-length snapshots of their distinctive sound.
