Ringlets: The Lord Is My German Shepherd, Time for Walkies (2025)
The title alone tells you this Auckland four-piece are clever and cynical. There’s also plenty of evidence in lyrics which can be surreally bewildering. But they are also fun, deliver anxious pop, folk-adjacent songs, gloom-drone and the wired-up Posh Girl Holds a Whip is about bondage. Think a post-punk version of the early Split Enz and you might be getting close.
