Oasis: (What’s the Story) Morning Glory (1995)
If their debut Definitely Maybe the previous year signalled attitude and their defiance of niceness (Cigarettes and Alcohol, Live Forever) this follow-up shut down the critics who thought they didn’t have much more in them. With bristling and wrap-around rock (Some Might Say, Roll With It, Champagne Supernova) and memorable, more restrained songs (Don’t Look Back in Anger, the inescapable Wonderwall), Oasis delivered another essential album of the decade. A milestone in British rock, now in a three record anniversary edition with unplugged songs.
