Japanese Breakfast: For Melancholy Brunettes (2025)
After a couple of albums that struggled to find a wide audience (Jubilee in 2021 nominated for a Grammy in the Best Alternative Music Album category) this one is a terrific introduction to the clever music and lyrics of Korean-American Michelle Zauner who manages to sneak a country ballad with Jeff “The Dude” Bridges onto an album that is mostly a subdued, melodic collection of pop, baroque pop (with strings) and exotic instruments and saxophone for an adult album.
