Luke Combs: Gettin’ Old (2023)
The companion volume to Growin’ Up, country megastar Combs (shelves of awards, scores of nominations) takes on adulthood (although still ready to raise hell like any good ol’ boy). He marries hard-edged guitar rock with country stories and sentiments (escape, passion, smalltown expectations, disappointments and so on). Fine and appropriate cover of Tracy Chapman’s Fast Car too. And a song with the title The Beer, The Band and The Barstool. Rock solid country.
