Robert Plant: Saving Grace (2025)
Don’t think of him as the voice of Led Zeppelin but as the singer with Alison Krauss on two albums: more restrained, whispery and working in the territory between folk, country and blues. This album with singer Suzi Dian and his touring band Saving Grace is skewed gently towards the country blues end of the spectrum with reinterpretations of songs by Memphis Minnie (“I buy you a Chevrolet”), Blind Willie Johnson and traditional songs I Never Will Marry and Gospel Plough. Unexpectedly there’s also a revision of a Moby Grape song It’s a Beautiful Day Today and Low’s Everybody’s Song. Very classy and a terrific band.
