Buddy Guy: Ain’t Done with the Blues (2025)
The great Chicago singer/guitarist who influenced Hendrix and any blues guitarist since is now 89 but not slowing down. Couldn’t if he tried. But here he reflects on what he has seen – he grew up picking cotton in the Mississippi Delta – over a long life which took him from bars on Chicago’s South Side to the White House. He acknowledges his predecessors and peers (John Lee Hooker, BB King, Jimmy Reed, Lightnin’ Hopkins) but gets down into barroom blues, bayou country, rockabilly boogie and rockin’ gospel. Terrific.
