Grant-Lee Phillips: In the Hour of Dust (2025)
One of America’s greatest but least known singer-songwriters considers his country with despair (“little men who want to rule like Caesar”), wondering where politics and progress might be taking us but offering a flicker of optimism that these dark ages will be behind us. Add in some love songs and his downbeat delivery over the acoustic strum of folk-country and you have an album which cuts deep.
