The Strokes: The New Abnormal (2020)

New York’s much-acclaimed Strokes never bettered their 2001 debut Is This It but almost two decades on songwriter Julian Casablancas had married, had two kids, divorced and took a more measured view of life. This album – quieter, more pop than rock and with a neat lift from Billy Idol’s Dancing With Myself – was a return to (a new) form which captured a sense of disillusion in the Covid-19 era. Cool, framable Jean-Michel Basquiat cover too.
