Frank Black: Teenager of the Year (1994)
Released a month after Kurt Cobain shot himself this album – a double vinyl on 2025 reissue – didn’t get the attention it deserved. But Frank Black (Black Francis of the Pixies) pulled out a cracker collection which ran from the charming lullaby Sir Rockaby to downer power pop (Headache) with pit-stops for Who-like power chords, space rock, spoken word and economic pop. Well worth discovering. And try shaking off Sir Rockaby and Headache.
