Bruce Springsteen: Tracks II, the Lost Albums
When Springsteen released his 66 song box set Tracks in 1998 many said only Bob Dylan and he – and, as we are learning, Neil Young – had amassed such a back-catalogue of unreleased songs.
Now Springsteen comes back with seven albums – 83 songs in total – which were ready to go but pulled. There are 18 demos from between Nebraska and Born in the USA; an album of synths and loops from The Streets of Philadelphia sessions; a soundtrack to a “spiritual Western” from 2005-2006; country rock on Somewhere North of Nashville; Inyo which has a reflective Tex-Mex/Spanish quality; songs recorded during the Western Stars sessions and a catch-all collection of 10 others.
An alternative history of an artist constantly searching and, mostly, finding.
