Beth Gibbons: Lives Outgrown (2024)
The voice of Portishead releases her debut album at age 59 and has something to say about serious matters: motherhood, anxiety, menopause and mortality. Far from being gloomy and morose however, Gibbons couches some of these stark realities in pillows of strings and synths, and neo-folk settings, and within percussiondriven experimentation closer to Kate Bush and Peter Gabriel. One to discover.
