Some people couldn’t see past the meat dress or the clothes too outrageous to wear, but Gaga has gone on to become more than Madonna and as big as Barbra (like Streisand and unlike Madonna, she can actually act). And it began with this sizzling electro-pop debut which celebrated money, hedonism, fame, more money, sex and life on the dancefloor. It was as if the self-centred Me Generation of the 80s had come back with better lyrics and a sense of humour.
