Greg Johnson: Sea Breeze Motel (2000)
Much-admired singer-songwriter’s farewell album because he moved to Los Angeles after its release, where he has lived ever since. Stretching himself into strident pop (Beautiful Storm, Cut to the Chase) with longtime guitarist Ted Brown, maintaining his poise as a sophisticated writer but experimenting with sounds and dynamics (Hibiscus Song, The Matinee), Johnson confirmed he was among our best, and not without dark humour (Ballgowns and Smalltowns).
Remastered and released on vinyl for the first time.
Out now.
Next: Ted Brown, Solstice Canyon Loop; Greg Johnson, Vine Street Stories and Here Comes the Caviar
