Dr Tree: Dr Tree (1976)
Even at the height of jazz fusion – when jazz and rock met – this local album in the style was a rarity, but much acclaimed. It picked up two music awards. Ironically, given all the players were jazz musicians, both were in the rock category. Keyboard player Murray McNabb: “I was sitting at the table and there’s all these people coming round I didn’t know and saying, ‘We’ll be in touch.’ I never heard anything from anybody.” So, a one-off of astral flight, experimental jazz-rock given expanded vinyl reissue in 2024 with previously unavailable additional tracks.
Originally released in 1976, the self-titled album from NZ Jazz-Fusion ensemble Dr Tree has been reissued as a limited edition double LP featuring extra tracks and alternate takes, the album was restored and remastered at Abbey Road and comes pressed on audiophile grade vinyl.
