The Dixie Cups: Chapel of Love (1964)

At the time American girl groups were fading in the face of young British men with guitars. But this New Orleans trio cracked hits (the title track, the close harmony of Gee The Moon is Shining Bright, the Nawlins funk of Iko Iko which they wrote and became a standard) with the legendary New York pop producers and writers Lieber-Stoller and Barry-Greenwich. Irrepressible pop, shamelessly enjoyable.
